Hoping Gov and Web will meet – part 1

Now that I work in civil service, one of the areas that I’m passionate about is how Government uses the Web and technology to engage the public.  Democracy has this opportunity to take the next step, to not just be “of the people” and “for the people,” but also “with the people”.  The public expects a new kind of transparency and relationship with Government. Traditionally, people touch government through periodic trips to the voting polls.  Today, the Web provides this opportunity for an ongoing relationship between the public and Government.

I’m working on a  presentation called “Gov 3.0”.  My hope is that Gov and the Web would work more harmoniously together to better serve the public.  There are some very creative and passionate people working in civil service and I know many of us are eager to use technology to be more effective in our work.

I hope you enjoy Part 1 of Gov 3.0.  Please let me know what you think.
